This scholarship will provide 60 $1,000 non-renewable scholarships for Nebraska high school seniors to attend a Nebraska college or university. Applicants must complete their 2026-27 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and a short scholarship application. If selected, the funds may be used for tuition, fees, books/supplies, living expenses, or transportation costs.
Verification
As part of the application process, you will be asked to upload verification of your 2026-27 FAFSA completion. Acceptable forms of verification include:
- A copy of your FAFSA confirmation email from the U.S. Department of Education.
- The first page of your FAFSA Submission Summary (do not upload the entire document).
- A screenshot of your Eligibility Overview page from your Federal Student Aid account.
Eligibility
To be eligible, a student must:
- Be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident.
- Be a Nebraska resident.
- Be currently enrolled in grade 12 at a Nebraska high school with plans to graduate this academic year.
- Plan to attend an eligible Nebraska college or university full-time in the fall of 2026.
- Have filed their 2026-27 FAFSA.
How the Scholarship is Awarded
EducationQuest will randomly select 20 students from each of Nebraska’s three congressional districts to receive the award.
- First drawing; December 5, 2025, 24 recipients will be selected.
- Second drawing: April 15, 2026,36 recipients will be selected.
- Applicants not selected in December will automatically be entered in the April selection cycle.
Recipients will be notified by email and must accept the scholarship within 10 days. If a recipient does not respond within this timeframe, they will forfeit their award, and it will be awarded to another applicant.
EducationQuest will pay the $1,000 scholarship directly to eligible Nebraska colleges and universities on the student’s behalf in August 2026, after confirming the recipient’s college enrollment, FAFSA completion, and that the “cost of attendance” has not been met.
