Money Matters
Should I apply for financial aid each year that I'm in college?
Complete a Renewal FAFSA each year of college to continue receiving financial aid - including student loans. Use your Department of Education PIN to access your Renewal FAFSA at www.fafsa.gov. Contact EducationQuest if you need help.
You should also continue applying for scholarships throughout college. Talk to the financial aid office about college-specific scholarships, and visit free scholarship search sites such as ScholarshipQuest, www.fastweb.com, www.fastaid.com and www.scholarships.com.
Think before you drop those classes. Dropping below half-time could force you into student loan repayment, jeopardize your scholarships and financial aid, and may knock you off your parents' health insurance. Talk to your academic advisor and the financial aid office to make sure you understand the consequences.
- Keep track of your student and parent PINs - you'll need them to complete the Renewal FAFSA each year.
- Visit the scholarship search sites listed above for college-level scholarships.
