Twelve Nebraskans Receive EducationQuest Scholarships

(LINCOLN, Nebraska, January 21, 2010) - EducationQuest Foundation has awarded over $54,000 in renewable Reaching Your Potential scholarships to 12 Nebraskans who have overcome obstacles to attend college.

The recipients, and the colleges they are attending, are:

Noah Adhola from Omaha, Metropolitan Community College
Nybol Akok from Lincoln, Southeast Community College - Lincoln
Heidi Grabenschroer from Omaha, Bellevue University
Shelagh Hardich from Omaha, Creighton University
Kimberly Homsey from Lincoln, Nebraska Wesleyan University
Passion Johnson from Papillion, University of Nebraska at Omaha
Susan Johnson from Scottsbluff, Western Nebraska Community College
Jahija Muhic from Lincoln, Southeast Community College - Lincoln
Jose Peña from West Point, University of Nebraska at Omaha
Brandon Ryan from Omaha, Metropolitan Community College
Jessie Torres from Scottsbluff, University of Nebraska at Kearney
Autumne White from Omaha, Creighton University

"These students have overcome tremendous obstacles to improve their lives, and the lives of others, through higher education," said EducationQuest President Liz Koop. "We're pleased to help them achieve their goals."

EducationQuest awards Reaching Your Potential scholarships twice a year to Nebraska students through referrals from Nebraska community agencies and colleges. Since the program was developed in 2000, EducationQuest has disbursed nearly $2.2 million in scholarships to 230 Nebraskans.
